Vivienne Shaw (nee Topajka)
Viv has expertise in a number of areas: marketing, international business,
strategy, research, project management, environmental and
conservation management.
In 2011, Viv coordinated and taught on the International
Business module of the Otago MBA. She has also worked with
the School of Marketing and International Business at
Victoria University of Wellington as a Research Advisor.
Between 2008 and 2011 she was a lead researcher on a
government-funded grant to research the
building of a sustainable competitive advantage for
New Zealand service firms in Asia, with a spotlight on China
and India.
Viv is secretary of the Pomona Island Charitable
Trust and, largely
on a voluntary basis, has taken on the role of project manager
for the Trust. She has gained valuable experience in managing
the eradication of pests such
as stoats, possums, deer,
rats and mice. Viv has experience
of the resource
consent process required for pest eradications and experience in coordinating
aerial rodent eradication programmes. Combined with
excellent communication skills, she can manage
conservation-related projects, including advising
on fundraising.
Viv has completed consultancy
projects with the Department of Conservation (Southland
Conservancy), Fiordland
College, Pomona Island Charitable Trust, South West New
Zealand Endangered
Species Charitable Trust, Bluff Hill/Motupohue Environment
Trust and the Fiordland Trails Trust.
In 2007 Viv was appointed to the Southland Conservation
Board (Chair
from August 2009 to February 2011). She is a
Trustee on the Fiordland Conservation Trust.
Viv has a degree in German and a PhD in Marketing.
